THINGS YOU ONLY LEARN OUT THERE

Be where you’re going by dark.

The one rule locals never break.

N° 02
Why it matters02 / 05

It’s not that the dark is dangerous.

It’s that everything that keeps the road easy disappears. No street lighting. No shoulder to recover onto. And the animals you’d spot a mile off in daylight are suddenly invisible.

The animals03 / 05

Kudu, oryx, warthog.

At dusk and after dark they’re almost impossible to see — and when your headlights catch them, they bolt the wrong way: straight into the road. You can’t out-react them.

Dawn counts too04 / 05

Early starts are a gift — give them respect.

Sunrise on the road is one of the best parts of a Namibia trip — soft light, cool air, animals about. Just treat that first hour like the trickiest of the day: slow down, scan the verges, don’t rush.

The fix05 / 05

Plan to arrive with light to spare.

Do that, and the single biggest risk on Namibian roads quietly takes care of itself.

TPT · TRIPPACE TIP

Build your route so you’re parked before sunset, not racing it. That’s exactly what the pace check is for — it flags the days that’ll run long before you book them.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

See the days that’ll run long — before you lock them in.

The free pace check tests your route against real Namibia road speeds — gravel-adjusted, sunset-aware.
